On October 9, 2011, Abundant Heart Church held its first Sunday morning service. The Lord revealed to Pastor Ray in the spring of 2011 that he was not to travel anymore — He simply said, “Stay home.” After some resistance, Pastor Ray finally surrendered and asked, “OK, Lord, what do You want me to do?” The Lord then revealed that Pastor Ray and his wife, Cricket Keasler, were to pastor a new work in Granite Shoals.
God led Pastor Ray to study Acts chapters 1–4. Over several months, the Lord unfolded His design for the church, centered on three things: believers fellowshipping together and building relationships, breaking bread together like family, and sharing the Word of God together.
Pastor Ray and Cricket took this revelation and developed Abundant Heart Church according to that design. On Sunday morning, October 9, 2011, with just the two of them, they had church. The following Sunday they doubled, and growth has continued ever since.
In December 2012, the Lord spoke a single word to Pastor Ray: “Building.” Nothing else was said or done until March 2013, when the Lord instructed him to call Pastor Harold Connoway about leasing his building on RM 1431. They negotiated a month‑to‑month lease for the property, and Abundant Heart’s first service there was the Sunday after Easter, April 7.
In 2015, with a loan from the district, the church purchased the property. Over the next few years, the congregation completed renovations inside and outside the main building and refreshed the Youth Building to provide a more modern space for all believers.
In October 2018, after planting a $1,000 seed, Pastor Ray received a phone call. The voice on the other end said, “The Lord has instructed me to pay off the note on the church.” Today, Abundant Heart Church is a debt‑free ministry, showing people through the Truth of the Word of God that there is a better way to live.
